As a die-hard fan of TV series, you are probably wondering if there will be an episode 11 in season 6 of The Rookie. The tension is at its peak and the wait is unbearable. Prepare to dive back into the intense and captivating universe of this series that never ceases to surprise us. Hold on tight, because the sequel promises to be full of twists and turns and emotions.

What happened in episode 10 of season 6?

The diffusion of The Rookie began in 2018 and the series has just concluded its 10th episode of season 6. This episode was full of significant events. Nolan (played by Nathan Fillion) and Bailey (played by Jenna Dewan) have decided to start a family. Chen (Jim Lau) and Bradford (Eric Winter), meanwhile, continued to navigate the murky waters of their complex relationship. The rest of the team takes on a critical mission to stop Monica (Bridget Regan).

Faced with these developments, the question arises: Will there be an episode 11 to close the season?

The end of season 6 and the future of the series

It has been officially confirmed that episode 10 marks the end of season 6 of The Rookie. Therefore, episode 11 does not exist for this season. However, fans can rejoice as the series has been renewed for a 7th season, which is expected to debut in January 2025.

The strategy for season 7

Season 7 of The Rookie will be part of a larger strategy regarding ABC’s busy 2024 schedule. Once the series returns, it will have an uninterrupted run of 18 episodes, bringing the episode count closer to the previous average.

Fan expectations

Craig Erwich, president of Disney Television Group, specified that this strategy was intended to capitalize on the major promotional platforms available in January. He also added that The Rookie “continues to grow” on both ABC and Hulu. According to Erwich, season 7 will run without interruption, allowing for more “momentum” to be built:

“They’re going to go from one episode to the next… and that kind of momentum of original episodes week after week is a very powerful driver for both of these shows.”

Behind the scenes of the decision

Eric Winter, actor in the series, initially expressed his disappointment with this new broadcast strategy, “to be pushed around” by this change:

“I was very nervous at first, I have to be honest, I was disappointed.”

However, after discussing it with decision-makers, he was reassured about the importance of The Rookie for ABC and understands how an election year can change usual plans:

“But then I talked to a lot of people at the upfronts and it made total sense. I know how much The Rookie is a priority for ABC, and with an election year where a lot of time is spent on this sort of thing, they’re trying to protect the show.”

What season 7 has in store

The Season 6 finale brought resolutions to some story arcs, but left others hanging. Tim and Lucy’s relationship remains unresolved, leaving the door open for a possible future reunion. Meanwhile, Bailey’s ex-husband is out of prison and will likely seek revenge, creating a major story arc for the next season.

In addition, season 7 will feature major villains, with Jason as an immediate and dangerous threat, particularly against Bailey. The season will also feature more undercover stories, leveraging Nyla’s expertise as an undercover detective and Lucy’s growth in the role.
