The Rookie: the final episode of season 6 promises a formidable alliance…

While the final episode of season 6 of The Rookie was broadcast on May 21 in the USA, there is reason to worry, especially with Monica (Bridget Regan) and Oscar (Matthew Glave) who join forces.

At the end of the penultimate episode, Monica made a deal with Oscar to get the information she wants about the man who wants her dead.

In exchange, she promised to help him escape from prison.

The most dangerous alliance yet

Monica and Oscar are often the smartest people in the room, which is an essential trait in a villain.

You want them to be scary because, yes, they can be psychopaths, but at the same time, they’re also super smart,” shared executive producer Alexi Hawley.

“I think that makes them really dangerous, and as actors they play these characters in a realistic way that makes you fear for our heroes, which is exactly what we’re looking for.”

Lucy’s risky mission

Meanwhile, Harper (Mekia Cox) and Lopez (Alyssa Diaz) have recruited Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) to infiltrate a money laundering ring run by Batista.

But when Monica appeared at Batista’s house, Lucy had to quickly hide to avoid being seen. “She’s anxious about going to work,” Hawley says. “It’s never reassuring to know that someone could identify you with just a glance, so she’s walking a tightrope.”

Batista is extremely dangerous and his associate, nicknamed Headshot, only increases the threat to Lucy.

Hawley suggests that Lucy plays a very important role in this episode because of her undercover position.

Personal and professional crossovers

On a more personal level, fans saw a touching moment between Lucy and her ex, Tim (Eric Winter), in the penultimate episode.

Hawley teases that we’ll see them “sitting together in a store, and together in a police car for the first time” in the finale. “There could be a rescue situation at stake,” he adds.

Mekia Cox promises that the finale will be “one of our biggest episodes”, filled with “lots of action” and with some familiar faces. She warns that the episode will leave the characters “in a precarious situation.”

With The Rookie who will not return until mid-season 2024-2025, fans might be left with a cliffhanger that will last longer than the summer.

Hawley says, “I think there’s both a lot of hope and a cliffhanger at the end of the season.”
