The magic of end-of-year films: our movie buff’s guide to Christmas 2023

The festive period is finally here, and with it comes the long-awaited Christmas movie marathon. Since mid-November, the world of streaming as well as the major production houses have been competing in creativity to suggest their latest cinematic masterpieces to you, to be enjoyed within the family cocoon as a preamble to the 2023 Christmas holidays.

The best time to dive into the world of end-of-year films

Traditionally, the range of festive films begins to expand from November, offering a range of festive productions broadcast both on television channels and via various streaming platforms. This period extends until around December 30. Added to this are cinema releases specially reserved for this time of year.

Discovering the new Christmas cinematographic releases on Netflix

  • Hello, Christmas spirit! (Available from November 16, 2023): This Christmas movie, halfway between romance and family comedy, highlights the unique festivities of two formerly opposing family lines. The challenge of the end-of-year holidays: reconciling Jackie and Charlotte, the matriarchs of the two families, who have a dispute dating back to their university days. Will the harmony between these two women be there under the mistletoe? On the bill, spectators will have the pleasure of meeting Brandy, illustrious singer, and Jason Biggs, the leading actor in the “American Pie” saga.
  • Family Switch (Release scheduled for November 30, 2023): This production is a family comedy full of tasty misunderstandings and bursts of laughter, all bathed in the warm atmosphere of the Christmas holidays. Jennifer Garner and Bill Walker play the parents’ characters, while Emma Myers, recently seen in the hit Netflix series “Wednesday”, also plays a key role.

Christmas nuggets not to be missed on Prime Video

  • A stunning Christmas (On display December 8, 2023): In this unconventional Christmas Eve, follow the adventures of Greg, a withdrawn and not very talkative police officer who, after leaving his daughter alone, is played a trick by Santa Claus himself. We then find him propelled into extraordinary festivities, stuck in the body of his daughter’s favorite fictional hero, Richard Silestone. This French-language Christmas film brings together a spectacular cast, with comedians Ragnar Le Breton and Éric Judor, but also Laura Felpin and Kim Higelin, the latter known for her performance in the film “Le Consentement”.

There is no doubt that this selection of Christmas films will envelop your end of year in an enchanted and friendly atmosphere. Whether you are alone or accompanied, let yourself be carried away by these modern tales that warm the heart during the winter!
