“The Marvels” movie in the spotlight for the wrong reasons

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) seems to be going through a delicate phase, with the resounding failure of its latest opus, “The Marvels”. At the heart of this turmoil, Iman Vellani, the interpreter of Miss Marvel, openly points out a responsibility which would fall on the head of Disney, Bob Iger, rather than on herself.

A fall at the box office that makes noise

Despite the presence of emblematic characters from Phase 5 of the MCU on screen, such as Captain Marvel played by Brie Larson, Monica Rambeau played by Teyonah Parris and Miss Marvel, the young heroine played by Iman Vellani, “The Marvels” struggles considerably in box office. Far from reaching out to new generations, the film did not convince as hoped.

Statements that shake the Marvel chessboard

Faced with these disappointing figures, Iman Vellani speaks out by declaring that the outcome of the film is not within his control and firmly affirms that the management of this failure falls to the CEO of Disney. With satisfaction for the work accomplished and rejoicing in the entertainment provided, she refuses to take the blame and subtly invites Bob Iger to assume this responsibility.

Miss Marvel’s Precarious Position

If Vellani chose to mention Bob Iger rather than Kevin Feige, who oversees the MCU, it is a signal that could indicate a deep questioning of the direction taken by Marvel. The sustainability of the “Miss Marvel” series, linked to the success of “The Marvels”, now seems compromised in the face of these poor performances.

A potential repercussion on the rest of the MCU

With results that are far from reassuring for “The Marvels”, a reprieve is perhaps necessary for the strategy in place. Bob Iger, head of Disney, could be encouraged to readjust the next steps of the anticipated Phase 6 of the MCU to avoid a new cinematic affront.

  • Towards a strategic redefinition of Marvel after the failure of “The Marvels”?
  • Iman Vellani satisfied with his performance despite disappointing results
  • Future iterations of Miss Marvel uncertain in the face of financial results
