The KAOS series is canceled by Netflix after only one season: Why this choice?
The television series “Kaos”, broadcast on Netflix, was inspired by Greek mythology with a contemporary perspective. Despite a promising debut at the end of August, “Kaos” was canceled after just one season, much to the dismay of fans and the team.
Greek mythology revisited by Charlie Covell took an unexpected turn with the cancellation of “Kaos”, flagship product of Netflix released on August 29 last.
Echoing ancient stories, the series wanted to breathe a dose of humor and modernity into the legends of the gods.
Yet, despite a passage in the top 10 Netflix programs for four weeks, “Kaos” failed to maintain a sufficient audience to guarantee its survival.
In this modern tale, the powerful Zeus, played by Jeff Goldblum, appears in a new light, mixing majesty and doubts. Chained by Zeus for defying the gods, Prometheus, played by Stephen Dillane, seeks to rebel with the help of three mortals, Eurydice, Ariadne And Caeneus. The cast also includes talents like Janet McTeer in the role of Hera and Aurora Perrineau playing Eurydice.
However, despite this eclectic assembly and a notable start with 5.9 million views, “Kaos” failed to captivate a large enough audience.
Critics, although mixed, praised the effort of originality while highlighting narrative flaws. Variety, for example, reported a convoluted scenario struggling to marry its multiple intrigues.
It was through a since-deleted Instagram post that the actress Aurora Perrineau expressed her disappointment: a role that had allowed her to feel seen and valued, particularly as a member of a minority and a survivor of personal trauma.
She expressed her pride in the project, paying tribute to the entire team, actors like Misia Butler, Nabhaan Rizwan And Killian Scott, to the directors Georgi Banks-Davies And Runyararo Mapfumo.
Thus, the journey of “Kaos” ends prematurely.
This series, described as “strange, dark, hilarious, disturbing and tragic” by its protagonists, leaves behind a singular mark and many fans in search of answers in a revisited mythology.
