When the episode was released on July 18 at midnight, Amazon Prime Video released a statement to clarify that any resemblance between the storyline and the events in Pennsylvania is purely coincidental.

Amazon said: “The finale of the season of The Boys includes scenes of political violence fictional, which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the tragic injuries and loss of life during the assassination attempt on former President Trump.

They added that “The Boys is a fictional series filmed in 2023, and that any similarity between scenes or plot and these real events is coincidental and unintentional. Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys reject, with the greatest firmness, any form of violence in the real world.”

Title Change and Viewer Warning

The title of the episode was changed after the attack on Trump, where the former president said he was injured by a bullet that pierced his ear. Originally titled Assassination Run, the episode is now simply called Season Four Finale. Amazon also warns that “viewer discretion is advised” at the start of the episode.
