Star Academy: Prime will no longer be live, find out why!

By Julien Lamentière , on 5 October 2024 — Star Academy, TF1 - 3 minutes to read

Technical and logistical reasons

One of the main reasons why Star Academy prime is not broadcast live is due to the technical and logistical constraints linked to its production. Indeed, ensuring live broadcast requires a significant technical infrastructure and significant human resources.

  • Video management : the management of the castle of Dammarie-les-Lys must manage a large flow of images coming from the numerous cameras.
  • Sound and light : student performances must be highlighted through quality sound and light during each broadcast.
  • Coordination : The production team must manage multiple studios and filming locations simultaneously to provide viewers with a cohesive and complete experience.

In addition, if necessary, the fact of not being live also allows certain errors or unforeseen events to be corrected before broadcast on air. Thus, viewers enjoy high-quality content without any hiccups or lags.

Prior recording to ensure better management of the show

As mentioned previously, the absence of live also allows the show management team to make possible modifications or corrections to the program. This includes, for example, managing the time allocated for each student during a bonus:

  • Rehearsals : the candidates have enough time to rehearse their performances before performing “live” in front of the viewers.
  • Sequences shot in advance : certain sequences are shot before the show and edited in such a way as to offer fluid content adapted to the audience’s expectations.

Beyond these technical aspects, non-direct distribution also makes it possible to preserve a certain level of confidentiality for candidates and their entourage. If necessary, it is thus possible to edit certain sensitive or compromising passages which could be harmful to a particular person.

The Vigipirate Plan shakes up the programming

The main reason is above all the raising of the level of the Vigipirate plan in France, in fact TF1 is not taking any risks, there will therefore be a delay of 1 hour between the live broadcast and what viewers will see.

This organization allows the channel to avoid any overflow and to adjust the production of the program.

Sustained audiences despite the absence of live

Despite this absence of direct, the hearings of the Star Academy remain high and viewers continue to praise the show. Season 11 was inaugurated with great fanfare on TF1 with nearly 3.76 million viewers who discovered the new students and the godfather and godmother of the 2023 edition.

The show continues to create buzz on social media and garner strong reactions from fans. Some candidates quickly become popular with the public, as shown by the example of Julien who is already one of the favorites for Star Academy 2023.

The non-direct broadcast of Star Academy prime is mainly due to technical and logistical reasons. This approach ensures a quality program for viewers while preserving a certain level of confidentiality for the candidates. The success of the show does not seem to be affected by this absence of live broadcasts, as evidenced by the hearings and the growing popularity of certain candidates among the public.
