Senna: the legend of F1 comes to Netflix in a captivating series
Netflix presents a new mini-series on Ayrton Senna
Netflix is preparing to launch a new production dedicated to one of the heroes of Formula 1: Ayrton Senna. This project materializes in the form of a mini-series which promises to delve deeper into the life and career of the extraordinary Brazilian pilot.
An expected interpretation
Brazilian actor Gabriel Leone, aged 30, was chosen to play Senna. Leone, who will also take on the role of Alfonso de Portago in the feature film “Ferrari”, scheduled for the end of 2023, will take on the challenge of bringing the three-time F1 world champion to life on the small screen.
An international cast
The “Senna” series is enriched with a talented troupe of actors, including Alice Wegmann, Camila Márdila, Christian Malheiros, and other renowned artists. Filming took place in various exotic and urban locations across Brazil, including São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, but also further afield, reaching as far as Argentina and Uruguay, before heading to the UK.
A story in six parts
Divided into six episodes, the series aims to paint an intimate portrait of Ayrton Senna, illustrating not only his victories and defeats, but also exploring his character, his struggles, his triumphs, and his personal connections. Unlike the documentary released in 2010, this is the first time that a series has adopted a narrative approach to tell the story of the champion.
A first for Netflix
Netflix describes the show as a fascinating chronicle of Ayrton Senna’s life, never before described in such detail in a dramatized format, covering his sporting achievements through to the various chapters of his personal life.
The broadcast of this event mini-series is planned for 2024, allowing motorsport fans and the general public to delve back into the epic tale of one of the biggest names in Formula 1.
