Despite the failure of Last Blood, a new chapter for the Rambo saga is under consideration

The fifth installment of the Rambo franchise, titled Rambo: Last Blood, did not receive a triumphant reception when it was released in 2019. However, it seems that this is far from the end since a Rambo 6 would be under study according to producers Les Weldon and Kevin King-Templeton. In an interview with Comingsoon.net, they explain that everything will depend on fan demand. A film which could therefore see the light of day if the enthusiasm around the character of Sylvester Stallone does not weaken.

Reassuring news for fans of the franchise’

Four years after Rambo: Last Blood, this news bodes well for die-hard fans of the film series worn by Sylvester Stallone. Despite mixed reviews and a box office below expectations, it appears that the producers are ready to give another chance to the iconic character played by Stallone since 1982.

Sylvester Stallone, always ready to put on the Rambo headband

American actor and director Sylvester Stallone, now 75 years old, has indicated that he is ready to return to action in the shoes of John Rambo, the solitary hero with ultraviolent tendencies. In a recent interview at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) where the documentary was presented Sly Retracing his career, Stallone expressed his desire to be part of a potential Rambo 6.

The future of the franchise: what expectations for a Rambo 6?

The Rambo franchise began in 1982 with the film Rambo, adaptation of David Morrell’s novel, and has spanned five films to date. Here are some expectations regarding this hypothetical sixth opus:

  • A more elaborate scenario: Critics have often pointed out the simplistic storyline of the latest games. An effort on the story could restore interest in the saga.
  • A return to basics: Some fans would like to see a Rambo more faithful to the first episode, highlighting the character’s psychological trauma rather than his uncontrollable violence.
  • A succession: As age advances, one might wonder if the franchise could not be taken over by a young actor playing a character heir to the original protagonist.

How far will the Rambo franchise go?

The sustainability of the franchise will depend, as always, on the commercial and critical success of future films. If a Rambo 6 were to see the light of day and succeed in convincing the public, it could once again reignite the enthusiasm around the franchise. At any rate, The character of John Rambo will forever remain engraved in the hearts of moviegoers as one of the most iconic heroes of action cinema. All we have to do now is wait to find out if this ultimate comeback will materialize on the big screen.
