Intense Preparation for a Complex Role
To slip into the shoes of Mathieu Vasseur, Pierre Niney spared no effort. The actor spent a lot of time meeting BEA employees and even an acoustician with a profile similar to that of his character.

During Filming: A Physical and Mental Challenge
Pierre Niney described the filming of Black box as one of the most exhausting of his career.
He explained that the degree of precision required to play Mathieu Vasseur, as well as the technical aspects of the role, tired him greatly. “It was painstaking work, very detailed, sometimes even quite technical and from which I emerged physically and mentally exhausted,” he admitted.
Despite a career dotted with physically demanding roles, Pierre Niney stressed that Black box was particularly trying.
He compared this experience with other extreme filmings, such as that of The Odyssey, where he dove among sharks, and Save or perish, based on the lives of firefighters. None of these roles, according to him, exhausted him as much as that of Mathieu Vasseur.
Pierre Niney does not carry the weight of this thriller alone.
He is joined by Lou de Lâage and André Dussolier, whose impeccable performances add a new dimension to this psychological drama.
Together, they form a particularly compelling dynamic, heightening the tension and suspense of the film.
