Behind the scenes of “Pamela Rose, the series” with Kad Merad and Olivier Baroux
The American universe recreated in Île-de-France
Every Monday since November 20, 2021, Canal+ invites us to follow “Pamela Rose, the series”, where Kad Merad and Olivier Baroux return to their famous roles as FBI agents. Despite this premise of an action taking place across the Atlantic, all of the plateaus are surprisingly not under the American starry sky, but on French soil.
The transformation of the Paris region into a Hollywood setting
The adventure of the sidekicks Merad and Baroux, eager to face action again by thwarting the plans of a dangerous serial killer, unfolds visually on American soil. However, it was in the suburbs of Paris that the filming took place, carefully imitating the characteristic landscapes of the United States. Gladys Garot, head of design, drew her inspiration from scanning Google Earth to imitate the aesthetic of Washington’s residential neighborhoods, then selecting French sites that matched that aesthetic.
- Main filming locations:
- Lésigny (representing the peaceful daily life of the suburbs)
- Serris (for downtown scenes)
- Corbeil-Essonnes (campaign for the outskirts of Philadelphia)
An unusual FBI office in the heart of a former factory

After an informed tour of around thirty buildings, this old factory, abandoned since the start of the global pandemic, offered the space necessary to create the illusion of a professional environment straight out of a US thriller.
Meet the team
Beyond the flagship duo, the series can count on the talent of Lionel Abelanski, Panayotis Pascot, Mélanie Doutey, and even welcomes Julia Vignali, life partner of Kad Merad. We admire the weaving of a typically American narrative web, skillfully knitted in the heart of France.
A technical and artistic feat
The genius lies in the teams’ ability to transform everyday places into credible cinematic spaces. It is therefore thanks to a meticulous collaboration between the set designer, the director Ludovic Colbeau-Justin and the entire production team that the viewer finds himself transported, by the magic of fiction, thousands of kilometers from the reality of the sets .
The magic of the seventh art
Pamela Rose and her singular investigations thus stand as a vibrant testimony to the power of staging and artifice, where cinema once again proves to us its capacity to erect unrecognizable worlds from very homely settings. We.
