Money and blood: the new shocking series from Canal+

An original creation inspired by an investigation book

Of Money and Blood, the new Canal+ series, produced by Xavier Giannoli, is based on Fabrice Arfi’s investigative book and plunges us into one of the biggest financial frauds in history: the carbon tax scam. The series features a powerful duo formed by Vincent Lindon and Judith Chemla, as well as many other talented actors such as Niels Schneider, Ramzy Bedia, David Ayala, Olga Kurylenko, Lyes Kaouah and Yvan Attal.

A look back at the carbon quota scam

This ambitious series returns to the affair of carbon quotas, a scam that took place between 2008 and 2009 and cost European governments billions of euros. Fraudsters took advantage of the new financial market created to fight global warming by purchasing CO emission rights₂ at low prices and reselling them at a significant margin, without ever paying the corresponding taxes.

An innovative two-part format

The series consists of 12 episodes of 52 minutes and will be broadcast in two parts. The first part of 6 episodes will be broadcast in the first part of the evening from October 16, with two episodes then one per evening. The broadcast date for the second part has not yet been announced.

Renowned actors serving an intense work

Judith Chemla, who we notably saw in the films Masquerade and La Vérité si je mens, les debuts, as well as in the play Mademoiselle Julie, brilliantly plays a judge in D’argent et de sang. She shares the poster with Vincent Lindon, which portrays an investigator determined to bring down this criminal network.

Other talented actors such as Niels Schneider, Ramzy Bedia, David Ayala, Olga Kurylenko, Lyes Kaouah and Yvan Attal are also part of the cast and contribute to making this captivating series and rich in emotions.

This project marks a change of medium for Xavier Giannoli, who here marks his first television production. After the success of the film Illusions Perdues, crowned with seven Césars including Best Film, he offers us with Money and Blood a new creation on a hot topic and complex characters.
