In the hit series “The Boys”, the director offers us a precious clue to unmask the real Starlight. Follow the guide to unravel the mysteries of this extraordinary heroine.

Season 4 of The Boys brought its share of twists and complications for the main characters.

In episode 7, the series introduces a transmorfo which takes the appearance of Starlight (Luz Estrela), creating major confusion.

Distinctive signs between the real and the false Starlight

According to the director Catriona McKenzie, there are clear visual cues to distinguish the real Starlight from the imposter. McKenzie explained during an interview with Screen Rant that the main difference is how the impostor moves.

The real Starlight, embodied by Erin Moriarty, has a natural grace and a certain fluidity in his movements. On the other hand, the impostor adopts more mechanical gestures and a certain immobility, giving an impression of robotism.

Erin Moriarty’s performance and preparation

To accentuate this difference, Erin Moriarty worked closely with McKenzie. The actress had to adapt her natural instincts to create a performance that was more rigid and devoid of Annie’s (Starlight) intuitive emotional intelligence.

McKenzie described the exercise as fun, while highlighting the challenges of this dual role. This allowed Moriarty to push the boundaries of her acting by exploring a different spectrum of her own physicality.

The challenges of transformation

The presence of the transmorpho in the episode has a specific purpose: incriminate Starlight for the murder of President Singer. This plot could lead to disastrous consequences for Starlight and her team. If she is seen as guilty, she could lose public support, making it easier for her to be destroyed by Captain Patria and its allies.

A new dynamic in the conflict

This episode adds a new layer of tension to the series. Billy Butcher and his team must now face a threat capable of changing their appearance at will, forcing them to be extra vigilant to identify impostors.

The war between Starlight fans and Captain Patria fans should intensify even more with this new storyline, promising a very thrilling end to the season.
