Here’s Why Neuman Didn’t Explode Butcher’s Head in The Boys Finale Episode
The finale episode of “The Boys” left fans in stitches, especially with the palpable tension between Neuman and Butcher. Why, when the situation seemed hopeless, didn’t Neuman take advantage of the opportunity to blow off her sworn enemy’s head? This question deserves further investigation. Behind this failed act lie narrative issues, deep motivations and skillfully orchestrated character development.
Butcher’s Surprise
In the final episode of season 4 of The Boys, we witness a shocking scene where Billy Butcher (played by Karl Urban) puts an end to the days of Victoria Neuman (played by Claudia Doumit) in a brutal manner.
Against all odds, Butcher uses tentacles that extend from his chest to incapacitate Neuman and tear her in two in an instant.
Neuman’s death, as gory as it is unexpected, marks a dramatic turning point in the plot of the series.
Victoria Neuman has one of the deadliest abilities in The Boys : the ability to make the heads of its victims explode. However, this ability relies heavily on one’s eyesight. Indeed, his eyes must clearly see his target to activate his power. Butcher strategically exploited this weakness by targeting Neuman’s eyes, making it impossible for him to use his power.
Butcher’s invulnerability
Another crucial aspect is Butcher’s possible invulnerability to Neuman’s powers. We know his powers don’t work on tougher Supes like Homelander. It is therefore reasonable to assume that Butcher, thanks to his own recently revealed supreme abilities, may very well be immune to Neuman’s destructive power.
The speed of Butcher’s attack was decisive. Neuman had no chance to defend herself or use her power before she was incapacitated. This lack of preparation proved fatal for her, especially against an opponent as determined and cunning as Butcher.
Strategic use of his new abilities allowed Butcher to carry out this execution quickly and efficiently, leaving no room for a counterattack from Neuman.
