Millie Gibson gives way
The next season of “Doctor Who” brings its share of surprises, including the announcement of the departure of Millie Gibson. Known for the role of Ruby Sunday, she made her debut on the Disney+ platform during the festive Christmas period. However, the actress will not continue her adventure with the famous Doctor, played by the actor of “Sex Education“, Ncuti Gatwa.
A fleeting appearance
According to information relayed by the “Daily Mirror”, the decision to turn the page with Gibson’s character was taken by the head screenwriter, Russell T Davies. Gibson starred in the eight chapters of the 14th season which will be available on Disney+ from May. However, she will not appear in the 2024 Christmas special and will only appear in three episodes of season 15 to conclude her story.
A newcomer: Varada Seethu
The series will next welcome Varada Seethu alongside Ncuti Gatwa. Known for her roles in “Star Wars: Andor” and “Strike Back,” the actress is already filming in Cardiff, Wales. His participation in the Christmas episode is currently excluded, leaving the door open for a potential guest star to support the Time Lord.
No premiere in Doctor Who
Rotating traveling companions is nothing new in the “Doctor Who” cosmos. Although Jenna Coleman kept the Doctor company for four years, others like Pearl Mackie had less lasting roles.
