Berlin season 2 on Netflix: release date and first information
Sequel confirmed for La Casa de Papel prequel: Berlin will return for a second season
The streaming platform Netflix recently confirmed the production of a second season for the spin-off series and prequel to the iconic The House of Paper, titled Berlin.
Riding on the phenomenal success of The House of Paper, Netflix did not hesitate to develop a prequel centered on the character of Berlin, played by Pedro Alonso, despite his disappearance in the parent series. The first chapter of this spin-off reserved a special place for the story of this charismatic protagonist, before the events of the main series.
The public reception was more than satisfactory, the spin-off managing to position itself in the top 10 most viewed series on Netflix for several consecutive weeks. Taking into account this certain enthusiasm, the continuation of Berlin was no longer a question of “if”, but of “when”.
When to expect Berlin season 2?
With an official announcement dated February 19, 2024, Netflix lifted the veil on the future return of Berlin, promising to climb a new step in the adventure. In a detailed press post, the platform says more: “The iconic character played by Pedro Alonso will make his comeback for new adventures and more romantic journeys.” This launch will be accompanied by the return of the entire original cast, including Michelle Jenner, Tristán Ulloa, Begoña Vargas, Julio Peña Fernández and Joel Sánchez.
The start of production for this sequel is expected for 2025, which implies a possible premiere on our screens either at the end of the year 2025 or at the beginning of the year 2026.
According to figures disclosed by Netflix, Berlin obtained excellent results during its first week of broadcast, becoming the most viewed series worldwide, but also lasting seven weeks in the ranking of the most watched non-English series, generating 348 million cumulative hours of viewing.
The key figures from Berlin on Netflix:
