Canal+ Terminal: A crazy series in the heart of a fictional airport
When the curtain rises on “Terminal”, the latest series offered by Canal+, expectations are as great as the apparent ambition of its creators. Located at the heart of a fictional airport where eccentric flight attendants collaborate and extraordinary air traffic controllers, this series promises adventures as crazy as a flight without gravity. Humor in full takeoff or in free fall? The very essence of “Terminal” lies in its penchant for the absurd, a tradition dear to certain cult television classics. Jamel Debbouze, at the helm with others, hoped to reflect this heritage. However, the choice to film in front of a live audience, although courageous, was a double sword. The recorded laughter, supposed to punctuate the comic moments, sometimes seems to be out of phase with the action, which can alter the hoped-for complicity between the series and its audience. Performance that saves furniture? Despite some criticism, there is no doubt that “Terminal” presents itself as an ideal platform for remarkable performances.
